Neil Patrick Harris steps in as Wilhelm Reuss. Following Kevin James and Seann William Scott, Harris brings theatrical charisma to the megalomaniacal fascist. The supporting ensemble is equally strong: Brandon Flynn, James Urbaniak, and Kate Siegel reprising Agent Montana.
Where It Stumbles Before The Starting Line
One concern remains. The jump in scale is significant. Moving from remote cabins to international espionage at a historic bunker shifts the genre terrain. The franchise risks losing the intimate brutality that defined its early success. Turning Becky into a trained CIA operative also reduces some of her original underdog vulnerability.
Still, if Wexler balances the spy stakes with the series’ macabre humor and practical gore, the result could rank among the decade’s most entertaining horror-action hybrids.
